Moth Medicine : The East : New Beginnings

Prelude: As you will be able to tell from this post, I actually wrote this series a few months back, but then got quite sick and was delayed in posting it. At the time, we were preparing for the Sagittarius New Moon. As my thoughts and energy were of that time when this was written, I have not modified my experience to correspond with the current moon energies.

Post: Grandmother Moth holds a powerful energy of new beginnings. As you emerge forth from the chrysalis you can feel the excitement. As I begin my journey a few months ago with Grandmother Moth, I feel the stirrings within my chrysalis just as we begin our entry into the Sagittarius New Moon…. With arrow in hand I prepare to pierce my cozy cocoon, safe in the dark mother’s healing arms, and take my place, find my footing/wings and move forward.

I have found that moth medicine and energy hold amazing intuitive, healing, self-accepting energy, but she also propels you forward. She is a shadow-totem in my eyes, because she takes you within to face yourself, but she will ultimately emerge into the light.

Metamorphosis is part of moths magic – the egg stage is symbolic of the birth of an idea, the larvae stage is the foundation, the chrysalis stage is symbolic of the manifestation, and the growing of wings symbolizes taking flight and exploring uncharted territory.

Guided by the moon she constantly moves towards the light, and encourages us to do the same.

The moth is an optimist and opportunist with countless transformative properties. From them we learn how to expand and perfect our inherent psychic abilities, and how to let go of negative energies and unwelcome influences, helping us move into our personal power and happiness.
