Mantras: Sounds of Creation

Yantras & Mantras, the Devine Connection” and is copyright protected

To understand the Mantra you must understand the significance of the sounds you are producing. In the completion of this section on Mantras, I have found a valuable resource in the Thomas Ashley-Farrand book, Mantra Meditation, which breaks down the seed sounds of each mantra with an explanation and contains a CD with the proper pronunciation of the Sanskrit words.

Like most Far East languages, there is a subtly to the language of the Mantras. It is believed, that mispronunciation is not acceptable in this instance as you are working with essentially the verbal equivalent of base elements. If you put together the elements incorrectly, you end up with an unexpected result. If you truly wish to benefit from any path in life, then take the time to learn and the care to speak, and the action to manifest. If you can locate a local pundit or Buddhist monk in your community to assist you with this, I recommend it.  Most are approachable and willing to assist anyone on a spiritual journey.  Buddhist temples are easy to find and can be located in most cities.  They will not ask for funds, but it is a karmic good show of faith (and exchange of energy) to leave a donation if you are assisted.

I have provided an alphabetical listing of the seed sounds and elements of Mantras, along with their definitions/explanations to assist you in deconstructing the mantras you use in your daily practice.
